Biography

Vladimir Shadrin began playing hockey in 1965 with Spartak Moskva and played there until 1979, winning three Soviet titles with them (1967, 1969, 1976) and was twice a runner-up at the European Champions Cup (1970, 1977). He was also named twice as the best line at the Soviet Championships in 1973 and 1976. Shadrin finished his competitive career by playing in Japan with the Oji Eagles from 1979 to 1983.

Internationally Shadrin played 169 games with the Soviet national team and scored 71 goals. He won two Olympic golds (1972, 1976), was World Champion five times (1970, 1971, 1973-75), and European Champion four times (1970, 1973-75). He also won silvers (1972, 1976) and a bronze (1977) at the World Championships and silvers (1971, 1972, 1976) and bronze (1977) at the European Championships.

Shadrin was also the most successful player at the 1976 Olympic tournament with 10 points and 6 goals. He also took part in the 1972 Summit Series (8 games, 3 goals) and 1974 Summit Series (7 games, 1 goal). After his competitive career ended, Shadrin worked one season in 1984 as a head coach of Spartak Moskva and then from 1985-91 was the head coach of their junior team. From 1992-97 Shadrin was the head coach of the Russian national junior hockey team and in 2000 Shadrin became the general director of the Spartak Moskva hockey arena. He also served as vice president of Spartak Moskva.
