Germany continued their winning streak in the men’s luge. Max Langenhan, World Champion in 2024 and 2025, dominated the event and won all four runs with new track records. The pre-Olympic favourite won gold with a margin of just under 6/10ths of a second. Equally clear were the silver medals for Austria’s Jonas Müller and bronze for Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller. They both placed second and third, respectively, in all four runs, with Fischnaller repeating his success from the previous Olympics. He also took the athletes’ oath at the Opening Ceremony in Cortina. Müller was Langenhan’s predecessor as World Champion in 2023 but a newcomer in the Olympic arena.
Latvia’s Kristers Aparjods, a former Youth Olympic Winter Games champion, placed fourth. German veteran Felix Loch did not make the medals at his fifth Olympics. The three-time gold medallist, including two golds in the men’s single, lost his chances with a disappointing first run. The medals went to the leading nations in the men’s luge. Of the 17 gold medals in this event, eight have been won by Germany, four by the former German Democratic Republic, three for Italy, and two to Austria.
