Austrian ski jumper Martin, son of Fritz Koch and nephew of Armin Kogler and Alfred Groyer, participated in the 2002 Salt Lake City and the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. He placed 14th and eighth in the normal and the large hill events respectively in 2002. In 2006, he won the team gold medal in the large hill competition and placed tied 23rd in the individual normal and 32nd in the large hill events.
Koch’s career started with two Youth World Championship wins with the Austrian team in 1999 and 2000. Later, he added three more team gold medals at World Championships: in 2009 in the large hill event and in 2011, in both normal and large hill. At Ski Flying World Championships Koch won three gold medals with the team (2008, 2010, 2012), an individual silver in 2008 and an individual bronze in 2012. In total, he won 16 World Cup events.
Koch was awarded the Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2006. The same year he was a member of the Sports Team of the Year in Austria. He later worked with Austrian TV channel ORF as a ski jumping commentator.
