Biography

Terry Kent competed at the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympics, always in kayak doubles or fours, and competed at six World Championships. In 1991 Kent won five titles at the US Nationals, and in his career, won 22 medals at US Olympic Festivals. Kent attended Cornell, where he was an All-Ivy League wrestler. He later earned an MS degree from Stanford in operations research.

After ending his competitive career Kent worked as Executive Director for USA Canoe/Kayak from 1996-2000. He worked for the US Olympic Committee as director of sports partnerships from 2000-02, and was then director of operations at the Lake Placid Resort from 2002-04. Kent became Executive Director of the US Bobsled & Skeleton Federation in 2004, holding that position until 2007. During his time in Lake Placid he was also a talk show host for one year on Adirondack TV 33. From 2007-09 he worked as sales director for Swift Canoe & Kayak. In 2009 Kent became development officer at his alma mater, Cornell.
