Biography

Branislav Lončar competed in shooting at the 1960 and 1968 Olympic Games. He was a Yugoslavian Champion 15 times. In 1970 he won a World Championship bronze medal in the prone small-bore rifle shooting, team event. His best international tournament was the 1959 Mediterranean Games, where he won four medals, with golds in small-bore rifle, kneeling and prone, adding a silver in small-bore, 3 positions, and a bronze in mobile silhouette rifle. He was 1965 European Champion in small-bore, 3 positions, and won 11 medals overall at the European Championships.

After his competitive career ended, Lončar turned to coaching in Serbia and Yugoslavia, coaching SD Novi Sad, and was a national team selector. He also served as secretary-general of the Vojvodina Sports Federation.
