Biography

Margery Hinton had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1938 British Empire Games 3×110 yards Medley Relay (with Doris Storey and Lorna Frampton), 2nd in the 1930 British Empire Games 200 yards Breaststroke, 3rd in the 1934 British Empire Games 200 yards Breaststroke, 3rd in the 1934 British Empire Games 4×110 yards Freestyle Relay (with Edna Hughes and the non-Olympians Beatrice Wolstenholme (younger sister of Cecelia) and Olive Bartle), 3rd in the 1938 British Empire Games 4×110 yards Freestyle Relay (with Edna Hughes, Zilpha Grant, and the non-Olympian Joyce Harrowby); 3rd in the 1931 European Championships 200 metre Breaststroke, 3rd in the 1934 European Championships 4×100 metres Freestyle Relay (with Edna Hughes and the non-Olympians Beatrice Wolstenholme and Olive Bartle), 3rd in the 1938 European Championships 4×100 metres Freestyle Relay (with Zilpha Grant, Olive Wadham, and the non-Olympian Joyce Harrowby). Hinton also finished fifth in the 1934 British Empire Games 440 yards Freestyle and competed in the 1938 British Empire Games 440 yards Freestyle. In the British Empire Games she represented England.
