Biography

For the first half of the 1920s Vilém Šindler represented Sparta Praha and won Czechoslovak titles in the 10km cross-country race (1923) and the 1,500 metres (1924). Also in 1924 Šindler ran in the 800 metres and 1,500 metres at the Paris Olympics but did not advance from the heats in either race. For the rest of the decade he represented SK Židenice, winning the national title in the 800 metres in 1926 and 1927. In 1928 Šindler returned to the Olympics for the Amsterdam Games where he ran in the 800 metres, 1,500 metres, and the 4 × 400 metres relay.

Personal Bests: 400 – 51.7 (1926); 800 – 1:56.1 (1926); 1500 – 4:01.4 (1927).
