Biography

Alejandro Hernández was a Mexican tennis player who played professionally from 1995 to 2005. Hernández achieved a career-best singles ranking of 125 in the world in February 1997, and a doubles ranking of 115 in the world in December 2004.

Hernández and Mariano Puerta of Argentina reached the junior doubles final at Wimbledon in 1995. He turned professional the same year, going on to win eight singles and 18 doubles titles on the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures tour. As a doubles player he was often paired with fellow countrymen Óscar Ortiz, Santiago González, and Mariano Sánchez. His best Grand Slam performance came in the doubles at the 2000 Australian Open where he reached the second round.

Hernández competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In the singles in Atlanta he lost in the first round to Christian Ruud of Norway. Hernández played in the doubles at both Olympics but lost in the first round each time.
