Canoe Slalom at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Dates 7 – 11 August 2016
Medal Events 4

The slalom canoe events for the 2016 Summer Olympics were held at the newly-constructed Deodoro Olympic Whitewater Stadium. The Olympic slalom canoe program was standardized in 1992, with no change in the men’s and women’s programs from 1992-2016. There were four slalom events, kayak and Canadian singles for men, men’s Canadian doubles, and women’s kayak singles. However, this program would be changed in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in which men and women would contest two events each, kayak and Canadian singles for each gender. The slalom canoe medals were distributed widely at Rio de Janeiro, with no nation taking more than one gold or two medals overall.
