Heinrich Beck worked as a member of the DEC Inzell Speed Skating club from the early 1970s and organized skating trips and the Bavarian School Championships. Beck then spent many years working for the International Skating Union (ISU) at multiple speed skating events, including European Championships, World Championships, and the Olympics. In his role as an event starter Beck oversaw multiple races at the Olympics in Sarajevo (1984), Lillehammer (1994), and Nagano (1998).
