Danka Barteková

Danka Barteková was a Slovakian skeet shooter who competed at the Olympics in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, winning a bronze medal in skeet at London 2012. She won nine medals at the World Championships in skeet, with individual bronze medals in 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2014, in addition to two team silver medals and three team bronze medals.

Barteková was a 16-time medalist at the European Championships, highlighted by individual gold medals in 2008, 2010, and 2018, and overall, won nine gold medals, two silvers, and five bronze medals at the Europeans. At the World Cup, she won four gold medals (2006, 2009, 2012, 2014), three silvers (2008x2, 2012), and three bronze medals (2006, 2011, 2020-21), adding a gold medal in the Skeet75 event at the 2012 World Cup Final.

Barteková was named an athlete member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2013 and served her eight-year term through 2021. In 2022 she was promoted to a full individual member of the IOC. She served as vice-chair of the Athletes Commission from 2018-21. On the IOC she has served on the following commissions: Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport (2013-21), Ethics (2018-21), Olympic Channel Services S.L., Board of Directors (2015-), Coordination Commission for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires (2013-18), Chair, Coordination Commission for the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020 (2015-20), and Digital Engagement and Marketing Communications (2022-), Olympism 365 (2022-).

Barteková obtained a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy from Matej Bel University in Banská Bystricain 2009. She earned a PhD degree in international relations and diplomacy from the faculty of political sciences and international relations at the same school in 2020.

In sports administration Barteková has also been a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) executive committee from 2018-21 and was named a vice-president of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee in 2021.
