Biography

German archer Cornelia Pfohl participated in four Olympics Games from 1992-2004, winning two team medals, silver in 1996 and bronze in 2000. She was the only internationally successful archer from the former GDR. At the 2000 Sydney and the 2004 Athens Games, she was pregnant.

At the 1997 World Championships, Pfohl won the indoor team gold medal and outdoor individual silver. At the 1996 and 1998 Europeans, she collected two more team gold medals, and a silver in 1994. Individually, she won the bronze medal at the European Indoors in 1996.

Pfohl was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, in 2000. By profession, she became a physiotherapist, and lived and worked in Berlin.
