Biography

Veljko Rogošić was a Yugoslav swimming champion during the 1960s, who won the amazing total of 142 national titles and bettered more than 50 Yugoslav records. He was primarily a distance specialist, swimming the 400 and 1,500 freestyle and 400 IM, although he also competed in the 200 fly at the 1960 Olympics. Rogošić swam the English Channel in 11:27 in 2004 at the age of 63, and in 2008, aged 67, he swam between the coasts of Sicily and Tunisia, a distance of 171 km. In 2005, he walked along the Croatian coast from north to south for about 1,000 km.
