Biography

Ito Giani was a sprinter who ran the 100 metres at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Giani was better known as a 200 sprinter. He won one Italian title in the 200, in 1967, as he ran in the same era as the redoubtable Livio Berrutti. He was gold medalist in the 200 at the 1967 Mediterranean Games, also helping Italy win the 4x100 that year. Giani won another 4x100 gold medal at the 1967 Universiade, where he also won bronze medals in the 100 and 200. Indoors he helped Italy to a silver medal at the 1966 European Indoor Games. Giani competed in 20 internationals for Italy.
