Neil Walker was a swimmer who won four medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, with gold medals in the medley relay at both Olympics. He attempted to make the 2008 US Olympic Team but retired after the Trials. At the World Championships between 1998-2007 he won four gold medals and six medals in total, all in relays.

At the World Short-Course Championships Walker won six gold medals, with his greatest tournament coming in 2000 when he set short-course world records in the 50 metre backstroke, 100 metre backstroke, and the 100 metre individual medley. Walker also won five gold medals at the Pan Pacific Championships in 1997, 1999, and 2006; four in relays and the 1997 100 metre butterfly.

Walker swam in college at the University of Texas, earning 25 All-American awards and six Big-12 Conference Championships, and helping Texas win the 1996 NCAA title. He was later inducted into the Texas Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame. Walker settled in Dallas, Texas, and along with Ian Crocker and former Texas teammate James Fike, started the Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence (RACE) in Rockwall, Texas.
