Central African Republic (CAF)

The Central African Republic National Olympic Committee (NOC) was formed on 20 May 1961 and, after lengthy negotiations over the suitability of the statutes of the NOC, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) granted full recognition in 7 October 1965 at the IOC session in Madrid. Central Africa competed at the 1968 Olympic Games, but then missed the next three Olympics from 1972 to 1980. Since competing at the 1984 Olympic Games, Central Africa has competed at all subsequent Summer Olympics. The Central African Republic has not yet competed at the Olympic Winter Games and it has not yet won a medal at the Olympics.

The best Olympic performance by a Central African athlete occurred in 2012 when Patrick Boui finished =7th in men’s featherweight taekwondo.
