Description
Mauritius formed a National Olympic Committee in 1971 which was recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 1 February 1972 at the IOC session in Sapporo, but did not compete at the Olympics until 1984 in Los Angeles. Mauritius has not missed a single edition of the Olympic Games since, but has never competed at the Olympic Winter Games. The island nation won its first medal at the 2008 Olympics, when boxer Bruno Julie made it to the semi-finals of the bantamweight division and earned a bronze medal.
