The Korean pair of Kim Mun-Su and Park Ju-Bong had won the World Championships in 1985 and 1991, and were All-England titlists in 1985, 1986, and 1990. Earlier in 1992, the All-England title had gone to the Indonesian team of Eddy Hartono and Rudy Gunawan. They were the co-favorites, with Kim and Park a slight choice. The tournament went according to chalk, with the favorites winning throughout. The final came down to Kim/Park facing Hartono/Gunawan, with the Koreans winning easily, 15-11, 15-7. The bronze medal won by the brother tandem of Razif and Jalani Sidek was the first ever Olympic medal won by Malaysia.
