Biography

Representing Bohemia and Czechoslovakia, Boris Honzátko was a gymnast and athlete who competed at three Olympic Games and the Intercalated Games. At the 1906 Intercalated Games Honzátko competed in gymnastics in the individual all-round, rope climbing, and the individual all-round five events. His best result was equal seventh in the latter, which consisted of the horizontal bars, parallel bars, horse vault, rings, and combined high and long jump. Honzátko was also scheduled to compete in multiple track and field events at the Intercalated Games, including the marathon, long jump, and discus throw, but did not start in any of them.

In 1907 Honzátko represented Bohemia at the World Champions in Artistic Gymnastics, winning gold in the team competition along with Josef Čada, František Erben, Karel Sal, Josef Seidl, and Karel Starý. The following year Honzátko finished in 36th place in the individual all-round gymnastics event at the 1908 London Olympics and finished in the same place in the same event at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. Also at the Stockholm Games Honzátko ran in the marathon but did not finish the race. He was also scheduled to compete in the decathlon but did not start the event.

Honzátko was 48-years-old when he represented Czechoslovakia in the marathon at the 1924 Paris Olympics. The race started more than two hours late to try to mitigate the impact of the extreme heat, with Honzátko being one of the many runners who did not complete the course.
