Biography

Dieter Wellmann was a fencer competing for the mixed German team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and for West Germany at the 1968 Mexico City and the 1972 München editions. In 1964 he finished seventh in individual sabre and sixth with the team. He also placed fifth with the foil team. In 1968 he placed sixth with the foil team and did not qualify for the final. At München he placed fifth with the foil team and seventh with the sabre team. In 1972 he also earned his only individual West German title in foil.
