Biography

Jaroslav Sakala was the best Czech ski jumper during the 1990s. Sakala, who débuted at the World Cup circuit in 1989, won an Olympic team bronze in 1992, individual large hill and team silvers and individual normal hill bronze at the 1993 World Championships and gold at the 1994 World Ski Flying Championships. Sakala also finished third during the 1992-93 Four Hills tournament and won four individual World Cup races. His best finish in overall World Cup was second during 1992-93 season. After finishing his sporting career in 2002, Sakala worked as a sport shop and nightclub owner, and has served as head coach of the Czech national women’s ski jumping team.
