Korea’s Jin Jong-O led the qualifying with 567. He continued to lead in the final until his seventh shot, when he scored only 6.9. He blamed the error on the automatic sensor on his trigger that fired his shot prematurely. The gold medal went to Russia’s Mikhail Nestruyev whose final round of 98.3 was 3.7 points better than any other finalist. Nestruyev also won a silver in air pistol at the 2004 Olympics.
