Biography

Ryszard Parulski was a versatile Polish fencer adept with all three weapons. He was the 1959 World Junior Champion in sabre, but later focused more on foil, winning four Polish titles (1959, 1966 1968-69). He was runner-up at the Polish nationals in foil in 1961 and sabre in 1963. Parulski competed at the 1960-68 Olympics, winning a silver in team foil in 1964 and a bronze in team foil in 1968. He was an 10-time medalist at the World Championships, winning the individual foil title in 1961 and the team épée title in 1963. Parulski’s career was as a lawyer. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the FIE (Fédération Internationale d’Escrime) and the Order of Merit of the Polish Olympic Committee.
