Miloslav Netušil

In individual gymnastic disciplines Miloslav Netušil was an 18-time national champion of Czechoslovakia. Netušil competed at two World Championships, three Olympic Games, and four European Championships during his career. His first Olympics were in 1968 in Mexico City where Czechoslovakia finished in fourth place in the all-round team event. Netušil’s best results came in the pommelled horse (12th) and the parallel bars (15th).

At the 1972 München Olympics and the 1976 Montréal Olympics the Czechoslovakia team finished in ninth place in the all-round competition. Netušil’s performances in München were poor, with him finishing outside the top-100 in the individual disciplines he took part in after suffering an early injury. At the Montréal Games, however, his performance improved significantly with him finishing in fifth place in the parallel bars.

After the Olympics Netušil led the Czechoslovak national team for a ten-year spell from 1979 to 1989. He continued to work as a coach with the team up to and including the Olympic cycle for the 2008 Beijing Games.
