Biography

Christian Tröger was a German freestyle swimmer who won three freestyle relay bronze medals at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. In 2000, the squads finished fourth (4x100) and sixth (4x200). Tröger also competed in the 100 metres individual freestyle events in all three Olympics but qualified for the final only in 1992. At World Championships he won a relay gold medal in 1991 and 1997 at the Short Course Championships.

Tröger won even more medals at European Championships with five silvers and one bronze, and two short course gold medals, all with relays, except for the 50 metres individual gold he won in 1996.

Tröger was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, in 1993. He later graduated as a business administrator and became a freelance marketing consultant. As such, he was involved in the evaluation systems and process control of the German Olympic bids 2012, 2018 and 2024.
