Biography

Jacques Lefèvre represented France at five consecutive editions of the Olympic sabre fencing tournament – 1948 through 1964 – with a best result of bronze in the 1952 team event. Additionally, he placed just off the podium in fourth four times. He also won five medals in the team sabre event at the World Championships: silver in 1949 and 1950, and bronze in 1954, 1965, and 1966. At the Mediterranean Games, he was the individual sabre champion in 1951 and 1955 and took silver and bronze with the team in 1955 and 1951 respectively. Domestically, he earned numerous podium finishes in his specialty at the national championships.
