Biography

Guillermo Saucedo is often considered Argentina’s greatest ever fencer. He competed at two Olympics in fencing, competing in four events at both the 1968 and 1972 Olympics. His father, Raúl Saucedo, had competed at the 1932, 1936, and 1948 Olympics as a fencer. Saucedo starred at the Pan American Games, winning the individual foil in both 1963 and 1967, adding another gold medal in the 1967 team foil. He also won silver in the 1963 team foil and team sabre, and a bronze in the 1963 team épée. His son, Lucas Saucedo, also became a top fencer internationally.
