Biography

André Poplimont was an ice hockey player-coach for Belgium at the 1924 Winter Olympics. His hockey career was short, lasting from 1921-27, always with Antwerpen CPA, and he also skated at the 1923-26 European Championships. He later competed at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in fencing, finishing fourth in team épée. Poplimont served as an ice hockey referee at the 1928 Olympic Winter Games, and refereed ice hockey again in 1936 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, while also serving as a figure skating judge.

Poplimont went into sports administration and served as secretary of the Ligue Internationale de Hockey sur Glace from 1925-47. In 1939 he was given the Rád Bílého Iva (Order of the White Lion), the highest civilian honor in Czechoslovakia.
